Carolyn grew up in Pittsburgh, PA (an avid Steeler fan long before the 'Big Ben' era!!
She swam for Montour High School and the Chartiers Valley Swim Club. After
graduating from The College of Wooster in 1990, she continued coaching there for
two years. She moved to Bowling Green to be the Assistant Swimming Coach for
the BGSU men's and women's teams in August 1992. In August 1995, she went back
to school at BGSU, earning a 2nd teaching certificate and began coaching with the
Gators. In August 1997, she was promoted to Head Coach. Carolyn is married and
has two children (CJ and Maggie).
Gary Layne - Senior Coach (High School)
Gary has been with BGSC since the year round program began in the fall of 1982. He grew
up in Findlay, Ohio where he began his swimming career. After being discharged from the
Navy, he attended George Williams College and then returned to Northwest Ohio where his
coaching career began. Gary is married and has two children (CJ and Maggie).

Dan Wohl - Head Age Group Coach; Lead Coach - Age Group Blue
Dan grew up in Sandusky, Ohio. He swam for Vacationland Swim Club and Perkins High School (class of 2003).
While in high school, Dan coached 3 years as an assistant at Plum Brook Country Club for the summer league
team. Receiving 4-time All-American status in high school, he went on to compete at the intercollegiate level
at Eastern Michigan University. At EMU (2003-2007), Dan earned 11 individual Mid-American Conference titles,
10 MAC relay titles, and was a part of 3 MAC championship winning teams. He also went on to compete at the Div.
I NCAA Championships. During his summers at EMU, Dan trained and competed with Club Wolverine. At CW, he
competed at 3 USA Senior Nationals championships and was a member of 2 Senior National Championship winning
teams. After earning his bachelor’s at EMU in Exercise Science, he has been coaching. He coached 3 summers
from 2004-2007 with the University of Michigan Wolverine Swim Camps. Dan returned to Sandusky in 2008 and
began coaching as an assistant with Vacationland Swim Club. In 2009 he became Head Coach of the Plum Brook
Country Club. Dan is currently pursuing his Masters in Special Education. Dan is in his 2nd year with BGSC.
John Bargiel - Assistant Coach, Age Group Blue
John is a BG local in his third year coaching with the Gators. Prior to coaching, he swam with BGSC for 8 years.
He was a 4 year letter winner as a member of the BGHS swim team and a 2 year captain.
Emily Waller - Assistant Coach, Age Group Blue
Emily is from Dekalb, Illinois. She is currently a sophomore at BGSU and a member of the Falcon swim team.
She is a secondary education English major. She has been coaching for four years – 3 with her YMCA team at home,
where she swam for 13 years and is in her second season with the Gators.
Amanda Cadle - Assistant Coach, Senior Group / 8 & unders
Amanda is a sophomore at BGSU majoring in secondary education. She has been a coach for four years with her
local team and swam for Lima Shawnee High School. Amanda is in her first season coaching with the Gators.
I was a member of the Bowling Green Swim Club for 10 years. I have also racked up at least that much in
coaching over the years. I am also a new member to the BGSC Masters Team. I am married, and my husband's name
is Scott. I have two children that swam for the program. Amanda, is now a teacher for Maumee City Schools and
Michael is swimming for the Redhawks of Miami University. When I am not at the pool, I work for the Wood County
Educational Service Center as an Academic Coordinator and Youth Employment Specialist. In my spare time I enjoy
cooking, crafts of all kinds, fishing and reading.
Alexis Kain - Assistant Coach, 8 & unders
Alexis is from Cincinnati, Ohio. She is currently a sophomore at BGSU and a member of the Falcon swim team.
She is majoring in secondary education. She has been coaching for 3 years and is in her second season on the
Gator staff.
Sophie Postich - Assistant Coach, 8 & unders
Sophie is a senior at Bowling Green High School and has been with BGSC for 9 years. She has been a member of
the BGHS swim team for 4 years. During high school swim season in 2010 she was co-captain and received the
Coaches’ Award. Sophie has worked with the 8 and unders for two years now. She is actively involved in Young
Life at BGHS and has plans to attend college and major in pediatric nursing.
Amanda Rom - Assistant Coach, 8 & unders
Amanda is from Cincinnati, Ohio. She is a junior at BGSU, majoring in Healthcare Administration. She is
a third year member of the Falcon swim team. In Cincinnati, Amanda swam for the Blue Ash YMCA and Ursuline
Academy High School. She taught swim lessons at Normandy Swim and Tennis Club from 2004-2008. This is her
first year coaching for BGSC.
Evan Vocke - Assistant Coach, 8 & unders
Evan grew up in Napoleon, Ohio. He swam for the Napoleon Aquatic Club and Napoleon High School. Evan is
currently a freshman at BGSU and is majoring in finance. He swam for NAC for 13 years and is the son of
current Napoleon High School head coach, Larry Vocke. Evan coached for one summer with NAC before joining
BGSC this season.
Katie Womack - Lead Coach, Sooner or Later Gators
A Bowling Green local, Katie swam for BGSC for 15 years. She began her swimming career as a Sooner
or Later Gator and is now a junior at BGSU and swimming for the Falcons. Katie has been working with
the Gators for roughly 7 years!
Andrea Brown - Assistant Coach, Sooner or Later Gators
Andrea is from Saginaw, Michigan. She is currently a junior at BGSU and swimming for the Falcons.
This is her second year as a Gator coach.
Bailey Burk - Assistant Coach, Sooner or Later Gators
Bailey Burk is a junior at Bowling Green High School. She has been swimming with the Bowling Green
Swim Club for 9 years and swimming recreationally since she was six. Prior to being a coach, Bailey
has volunteered her time for team for the past four years.
Brett Bushong - Assistant Coach, Sooner or Later Gators
Brett is a junior at Bowling Green High School. He has been a member of the Bowling Green Swim Club
since he was four years old. He was a volunteer coach for the Sooner or Later Gators for two summers.
He is a two-time Ohio Swimming Age Group State Championship qualifier in the 50 and 100 breaststroke.
As a member of the BGHS swim team, he has been recognized as a scholar athlete and received two varsity
letter awards. He is a four-time Northwest District Qualifier: twice in the 100 breaststroke, once in
the 200 I.M. and once in the 500 freestyle.
Marisa Martin - Assistant Coach, Sooner or Later Gators
Marisa is a senior at Bowling Green High School. She is a current 12 year member of the Bowling Green
Swim Club and a 4 year member of the Bowling Green High School swim team. Marisa is in her third year
of coaching with the Sooner or Later Gators where she began her swimming career.
Patrick is in his second year as the diving coach with the Gators and BGHS/AWHS swim/dive teams. Patrick
was a diver for his high school in Dayton. He is currently a junior at BGSU and is majoring in Athletic Training.
